mourner A surprisingly clear change of directions happened since the predecessor. This is pure funeral doom and thus a lot slower than everything else Raventale did up to now. I didn't think he could manage such amazingly deep growls. There still is a lot of emotion and melody in the songs but they weigh at least 10 tons each. It's done with all the heart, soul and skill we are used from Raventale and it sure is a beauty. You'll just have to find out for yourself how you like this side of Raventale.

tr_🇺🇦 The first song put me off from buying this album for a while because the riffing reminded me of shape of despair's debut and I'm still looking for my tits this album bore off. That was entirely unfounded. Raventale's foray into melodic funeral doom is a collosal treat. Its quality of execution and production is constantly high. If you want something mellow look no further (unless you are looking for your tits as well). Hats off to Raventale and welcome to doom partyzone. Favorite track: Lorn And Deserted.

H.L. With "Morphine Dead Gardens" RAVENTALE moved completely from melodic and highly atmospheric black metal to funeral doom. It is still sad, atmospheric and very massive music, but the emotional grandness and uniqueness of the old black metal days has disappeared. Supporters of RAVENTALE's black past might be slightly disappointed and should invest some time to become friends with the new album, funeral doom maniacs will be quite happy with this dark release. Favorite track: As An Empty Shell.

about

It’s a 60-minute long concentrated atmospheric funeral doom metal, full of empathic melodies, catatonic viscosity and ether saturation. "MDG" will make a listener embark on a slow journey through the withering gardens of melancholy, soporific dormancy of ashen landscapes and cernuous boughs, clouded mind and cherishing mirages.
